Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Tiger the Trained Plott Hound Mix

Hello! My name is Amy, I used to be a foster for your rescue. I also adopted Tiger back in 2011.

I am writing this email to tell you how much of an incredible life Tiger has had and everything that he gave to me in the 11 years I had him. I got Tiger as a foster in January of 2011 and worked with him to help him overcome his fear of just about everything. Over the years he gained so much confidence but he did remain a dog with one love. I was the one lucky enough to be that love and he was mine.

He lived with me my entire college career, moved to the Keys, Atlanta Georgia, and Panama City Beach for internships, and then back to Atlanta for my first position in my dream job, back to Florida for the next chapter of my life. He helped me through heartaches and celebrations, holidays, birthdays, everything. We have been together for 11 years this week (I picked him up early Jan 2011 to foster and adopted him in June 2011). There was no where that I went that he did not go with me. Road trips, hikes, parks, brunch, you name it.

Everyone who met him loved him. He eventually accepted love from just about anyone as his confidence grew over the years. He helped me welcome rescue cats into our home and rehabilitate them, as well as two more dogs as our family grew. He got to see me get married and accepted John into his family as well. I had never seen Tiger get very close to anyone other than myself as he did with John. That is probably how I knew he was perfect for our family. He was Tiggy approved.

Thank you for all that you do for dogs and cats that need a home. I will forever be grateful for the years spent with my best friend. He was a true success story and I wanted to be sure you got to see the end.
