Description: We rescued this littler of 8 from a private owner. This is why we strongly recommend spay/neuter for all dogs to prevent "Oops" litters like this one! We know we can find these sweet puppies a great home whom will love and care for them dearly. Their mother was a brindle Lab blend and their father was thought to be a Terrier.
Foster Update: Wafer is a very handsome little dog. His coloring is beautiful. It is a golden tan. He has a white spot on his chest. He is very playful. He enjoys being held for awhile then it's off to playtime with his siblings. We have a large pen area for the pups that we foster and Wafer spends a lot of time playing outside with the other pups. He loves toys that squeak and make noise. They play with them most of the time. When out in our yard they play and play with each other hiding, chasing and wrestling. He gets along well with our dogs. We do not have any cats. He is fed Pedigree dry and canned puppy food along with a little bit of yogurt twice a day. He always cleans his bowl. He loves his treats. I use soft milkbone, regular puppy milkbone and pupperonies. I give some midmorning and midafternoon. Of course, they will eat anytime. He will make a great addition to a forever family.
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
