Kachina was adopted from us two years ago but was recently returned.
Have you ever heard that black male cats are the most affectionate cats? After fostering this guy, I'd have to agree opinion.
Volunteer Update 11.25.11: Since I was his foster mom several years ago, I was anxious to see him again after his return to PRBJ. Upon my first visit with him, he seemed to have the same endearing personality that he did as a kitten. Him and his siblings were always pretty talkative. They also are 'hand-butters' when looking for a little love. Yep, he still had that wonderful behavior! When in the open cat room and given kind of a cold welcome from one of the cats, Kachina did not respond at all. Kachina was more interested in exploring all of the heights in the cat room. He is still so handsome.
Kachina is so full of energy; yet, he also wants to be on your lap. He's mischievious but loveable. OH! And, sometimes when I'm sleeping I will feel this gentle nibble on my ear - not a bite but a nibble. I always know it's him! In the dark, how does he know where my ear is located?? Oh, and did I mention the low rumble of a purr this guy has?? As I type, he is talking "at" me and head-butting my arm for affection.
Kachina means "Sacred Dancer Spirit" in Native American Hopi language.
03.30.09 Foster Update:
This little guy is very sweet. His sisters might think otherwise! He outweighs them a bit and is usually the one initiating the pouncing on them. They take it pretty good though.
He's got a beautiful black coat with dark blue-grey eyes. He is a purrer!
04.05.09 Foster Update:
I've introduced the Shima (mama's name) kitties to dogs. They are great with them. We're talking 45-65 lb dogs!
Sometimes I just lay on the floor and let all four of the kittens crawl around on me - which they love to do. It's kind of like getting a massage. So, if you like massages you might want to consider adopting all four kittens!
04.17.09 Foster Update:
Kachina, the only boy of the siblings, tends to be the mischievious one! He will pounce on his sisters (whether they want to play at the time or not). Even at this point, he outweighs them by a pound or so. Kachina tends to be a "ball of fire" with his sister, Yazhi. They love pouncing and wrestling! There is a photo of them laying together resting after playing. Also, look how much these kittens love each other...there is a photo of all four of them laying all over each other.
05.23.09 Foster Update: These kittens have not been with me for several weeks. Everytime I went into the Center, I would go see them. It amazes me how they continue to be very close to each other. They love nothing more than to be cuddled up with each other (unless there is a human available). I'm trying desperately to have access to my keyboard right now but two of them want to lay on my lap and prevent me from reaching the keyboard.
Kachina is a very sweet and handsome little boy - and curious He loves to play - and be with his people. He, too, still loves to lay around with his sisters. Kachina is not "just a black kitten". He is a beautiful with a silky, black coat. Anyone who adopts these Shima mommy kitties will be very glad they did. She did such a great job with them.
05.29.09 Foster Update: I've had these little ones intemittently since they were weaned from mama. I recently discovered, this little guy is not "just a black kitten". He is a beautiful black kitten with one white whisker and a tuft of white fur on his chest!
