Foster Update 10/19/11:  Mallory is such an incredible kitty and she has come so far from when we first got her.  I have to constantly watch my feet when I walk because if I go somewhere, she has to go with me.  She follows me everywhere and waits until I sit down so she can jump on my lap.  She is MUCH better being held now after putting intensive time and effort into earning her trust. I can now carry her around and give her kisses without her struggling to escape within seconds.  She is very talkative and likes to chat when she's happy.  This morning, when I spent some morning time with her she just purred and purred and it occurred to me that I really haven't heard much purring from her since we got her. I guess she's finally feeling comfortable and happy.  Once she's bonded with them, she will make her new owner(s) feel like the most special person in the world!
7/18/11 Foster Update: Mallory and Tela have been settling in to their new foster home.  Mallory was a little more stressed over the move and took a day or two longer than Tela to come around.  Now that she has, she is a very outgoing, affectionate girl.  She will aggressively butt her head against your hand to get head rubs over and over.  When she walks, it looks amazing because her undercoat is white, while the top coat is black, so you see every wrinkle or movement in her skin because the white peeks through.  She likes to sit on my lap while I'm at the computer, and many times in the middle of the night, I feel her jump up on my bed and walk on top of me to lie down.  She definitely likes to be around her humans.  She has already gotten a little protective of me, and once was on my bed with me when my resident cat jumped up. She hissed at him, which surprised me because other than that moment, so far they all get along just fine. I've seen them smell each other nose to nose and walk closely by each other with no tension - so I think she just felt protective at the moment, which is cute since she's only been with me less than 2 weeks.
Mallory does not enjoy being picked up, so I am working with her slowly to gain trust when I do.  I pick her up for no longer than 1-2 seconds, pet her, kiss her, talk to her softly, then gently put her down.  I'll keep doing this for longer and longer until she gets comfortable that being picked up is ok, but for now she wriggles and is still stressed.  This does not stop her at all from being very happy purring on your lap, so I think she's just not used to the human being the one to decide when she's held :) While Mallory's pictures are a little dated, they still accurately reflect how she looks. She is a very small girl, with beautiful golden eyes and you can see in her neck area where she has the white undercoat.  Lately, every time I am home she follows me around from room to room, up and down the stairs, just to be nearby.

Foster update 6/29/2010 - Mallory has a beautiful white lining under her coat, making  her coat seam more of a chocolate color. Mallory is the most outgoing of the three sisters. She is constantly jumping in your lap, and insisting that you pet her. All three are very bonded and I would love to see two of them go home together.
Mallory and her companion Tela have been returned due to the owner's allergies. They are very loving and well adjusted cats, being raised around two young toddlers. They love to sleep together and groom each other. We would love to see them be adopted together, but is not required. Mallory was raised in a very loving foster home with her two sisters and 3 other kittens she considers her siblings. She is very lovable and very sociable, always wanting to be petted. Her purr lets you know how much she loves you.
