March 9, 2015:  Tela is happy to have gone to a foster home after being at the center for so long.   Here is the first update from her new foster!

Tela has settled in and she is eating well, sleeping and playing with her toys. As expected Tela is a natural hunter.  Over the weekend we let her out in our screened in patio and both days she brought in a playmate (brown anoles).    Tela is a shy graceful lady, who likes  to be brushed and to have her ears rubbed.

Feb. 26, 2014:  Tela finally found some happiness and went to a foster home for about 2 months.  Unfortunately, her foster mom lives in France and could not take her back with her.  She told us that Tela is the most amazing cat she has ever gotten to spend time with.  She is mellow, loves to cuddle, will follow you around the house.  She is 100% litter box trained, will play with you and sleep with you. Finally this beautiful girl got experience love only to lose it again.  Please help us finally get this beautiful girl Tela get her forever home once and for all....Thank you....PRBJ.

Foster update 2/10/14:
Poor Tela.  She is still waiting for her forever human to come and rescue her to her forever home.  She is a little feisty with the other kitties, but just enough to say, "bow down to me, my loyal subjects" which they don't seem to mind doing.  She loves to be petted, and will push up against your hands, or your toes to get rubbed.  She shows off her belly lying around on her back.  She is still the best hunter in the house if any little bugs or critters get in.  She also has the most amazing balance - sometimes she scares the life out of me when she decides to do the balance beam walk on the bannister that overlooks the second floor.  It's about 1.5 inches wide and the drop is about 15 feet down, and she walks back and forth like she's in the circus with a safety net!  Tela is normally in bed with me at night, and prefers to be close by to her humans.  She's been fine around my small child - no issues whatsoever.  She is very sure of herself, and while I haven't seen her around dogs, it would not surprise me at all if she were able to warm up to them too.  While she is willing to share the household with others, and does enjoy play, she definitely wants time with her human.  She's been waiting so long. Are you the one who will bring her home forever?

Foster Update - 4/26/13   Tela has grown quite a bit since she's been with us.  She is a friendly, loving girl who likes to be touched.  She sleeps in the bed all nestled next to me - definitely a cuddler.   Tela is now perfectly content around all other cats. In fact, she's kind of the queen of the house.  You wouldn't know it from her cute meow, but she's a lady in charge.  She has such beautiful coloring and would love to be spoiled rotten by her forever human.  She has adjusted well to life around a toddler and other cats.  Recently we've added two small dogs to our brood, and in general, Tela avoids them.  She would be just fine around dogs who aren't interested in chasing her!

4/18/12: Foster Update:  Tela has been with us since July of last year and is such a wonderful cat. She is OK with other cats but doesn't like to share her people's attention. She is very low maintenance, but very loving.  She has to find the right time to find attention in our house since we have other kitties who are more dominant, but if we let her, she would be around the humans all the time.  She is a companion kitty - she likes to sleep in bed and hang out with you on the couch.  But don't let her lazy demeanor fool you!  She has some very sharp hunter skills!  We recently had a black fly flying around in the house, and Tela was able to perform a karate kid move and grab that fly out of thin air!!  She has great eyesight and loves to watch shadows and lights dance on the wall as well as play with the laser pointer.  She is fine around the other cats but I think she would love to be spoiled by "her human".  She is around our 2 year old and as long as she isn't being charged at, she is just fine :)  I hope she finds her forever home soo - she SO deserves it.

10/19/11: Foster Update:  Tela is such a love.  Sometimes I feel sorry for her because her foster sister is such an attention hog and Tela just politely waits until it's her turn to get love.  She is a very mellow, pleasant cat.  She is very low maintenance, but not aloof.  She prefers her cheeks to be scratched, and doesn't mind if you do it with your hands or your feet!  We can tell she's gotten completely comfortable at her foster home, because we frequently find her lying on her back doing a "belly show" for us.  The only time she's not mellow is when she is chasing the laser pointer or shadows on the walls. She seems to love visual stimulation like that, as well as playing with her toys.  Most nights, she sleeps in my bed for at least part of the night and usually is flanked right up against my leg.  I can't wait for someone to give this special girl all the attention and love she deserves.

9/21 Foster Update: We have discovered a new passion Tela has - the Laser Pointer. She will chase after that thing for hours if we let her. She moves her head so fast tracking its movements that we almost can't see it with our human eyes! HA!    She is super quick chasing it across the floor and up the walls.  We recently brought another foster into the home, and she has been very respectful of his space and boundaries while he is getting adjusted.  She would be fine as an only cat or with other cats in the house.

7/18/11 Foster Update:  Tela and her companion Mallory have been settling in to their new foster home.  Tela was the faster one to adjust. She seems to have a mellow personality, and is a sweet girl.  Both girls are loving and like to be petted.  Tela sometimes chooses to sleep on the bed with me, but when I wake up, I never know if I'll find her or Mallory. They don't seem to do so together, maybe they're taking turns keeping watch over me!  Tela has the most beautiful coloring and is very soft to the touch.  She does not meow very much - but she loves to play with her toys.  She gets a little nervous when being picked up, so I am working with her to build trust by picking her up for a few seconds, petting her and then gently putting her back down - so she will realize that being picked up is a good thing.  She generally avoids my toddler as most cats do.

Tela and her companion Mallory have been returned due to the owner's allergies. They are very loving and well adjusted cats, being raised around two young toddlers. They love to sleep together and groom each other. We would love to see them be adopted together, but it is not required.

Tela is one of a litter of three kittens born to her wonderful mother Hayden. She is also a surrogate sister to an orphaned kitten named Colors. She has been raised in a wonderful foster home and is totally socialized to human contact. She even tolerates a two-and-a-half year old child. She is very curious and loves to follow you around the room. As soon as you pick her up she is purring like there is no tommorrow. She has the most beautiful yellow marking on her face and sits an looks at you with those glistening eyes.
