"Pets for Vets is an event designed to promote the use of animals to de-stress UCF’s student veterans’ lives, highlight the sources available to them and help them adjust to civilian and college life while promoting the adoption of rescued animals from the shelter. " Although aimed at veterans, all students will be allowed to walk, pet and interact with the dogs.

Beverage proceeds benefit Pet Rescue by Judy.From 3:30pm to 7:30pm, friends from Mercedes-Benz of Orlando and members of the Maitland Chamber of Commerce will gather together to watch the running of the 138th Kentucky Derby in the RENT-A-CENTER Derby Viewing Area while enjoying great food and FOUR ROSES Mint Juleps. Single tickets at priced at $25.00 per person in advance or $285.00 for a table of 8 guests. Table fee includes: VIP table with food, souvenir cups from the Derby Festival, Terroir Wines Winner Circle champagne toast in the new Mercedes-Benz of Orlando showroom after race. Each table will have a Floral Designer Competition centerpiece. Millenia Catering and area restaurants and will be serving Derby delights on the Smart Car lot from 4pm until 6pm. Complimentary FOUR ROSES Bourbon Mint Juleps will be served as guests arrive on the Red Carpet The cash bar will feature wine, beer & specialty cocktails along with complimentary water. Jazz entertainment will take place throughout the day as guests mingle about the Triple Crown Paddock featuring silent auction tables and a retired thoroughbred racehorse owned by Ann Payne from Sanford. A local florist will create the wreath of flowers worn by “Frenchie” the horse during the souvenir photo session from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
Ladies are encouraged to get creative and wear their most decadent hat or fascinator. Members from the Maitland Chamber will judge the hat contest. Prize sponsors include Maitland Jewelers and Crown Plaza Melbourne Oceanfront and the use of a new Mercedes-Benz for the weekend. Winners of the Most Unusual Hat, Prettiest Hat and Peoples Choice will all qualify for the beach get-a-way. The Orlando Style Magazine Hat Contest winners will be announced at 6pm along with the winner of Best of Show in the Floral Competition. Floral winner receives a weekend at the Holiday Inn Ft. Myers Beach and the use of a new Smart Car for the trip.
This event is all about helping to promote area businesses and raise money for the Maitland Chamber of Commerce. The general public may only attend the event with an advance ticket purchase. Derby bets will be made at the Jai-Alai Fronton for guests until 6pm that evening.

Judy attended a belly dancing benefit several months ago for another organization and was so impressed that she made a point of talking with the dancers afterwards. They were, in turn, impressed by her offered to put on a benefit for us! Wow!

No, these are dancers from Orlando Belly Dance, A Magi Temple, Elements of Dance, PURE Orlando and UCF Shimmy Knights performing the different styles of belly dance (bet you didn't know there were different styles!). Add to that a silent auction and raffle plus the inherent fun of The Silly Grape, a fabulous bistro in Maitland with fabulous food and drinks, and you have the makings of a fun-filled evening with your friends! Come on out for a Paddle for the Pups charity event for Pet Rescue by Judy and then stick around for Winter Park's first ever Sup (Stand Up Paddleboard) race !! If you have your own equipment, a $5 per person donation to Pet Rescue by Judy would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise if you need SUP gear, PBO will be on hand with lots of boards to rent. $35 for the Paddle for the Pups, with 50% going to Pet rescue by Judy,.
Fun, Friendly Sup Race !! Pup Paddle will start at 12:00pm and go until 1:00pm, bring your pup on the paddle!!! 20 boards are available for rent, please comment on PBO's facebook event if you are reserving one!
Winter Parks first ever SUP race will take place after the group pup paddle. 3 miles for recreational racers and 6 miles for the elite racers. stock and displacement classes. The course will take paddlers around the outskirts of Lave Virginia, with its calm flatwater, It should be a fast fun race !! Only $25 !! Race Check-in at 1:30pm and race starts at 2:20pm. There will also be a relay race and tug of war for fun following the elite race finish :). Classes are Rec- Men/Women 12' and under Planning/Stock boards only. The dog days of summer are upon us, so it's time to bring your furry friend to a night of baseball! The Sanford River Rats would like to invite all fans and their dogs out for their annual Bark in the Park on Saturday, June 30th!
The River Rats are partnering with Pet Rescue By Judy to bring you and your dog a night full of baseball, giveaways, and much more! If you don't have a furry friend don't feel left out- Pet Rescue By Judy will have dogs on site for adoption!
Come out and support the Sanford River Rats in their game against the Leesburg Lightening.
Admission is $5 for adults;
$3 for kids (7-12), seniors, and military with ID;
Children (6 & under)are FREE

We want to thank everyone who took time out of their lives to help out the animals at the shelter during a holiday.
