Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Marlee the Lab/Terrier Mix

Dear Pet Rescue By Judy, I have been following some of the updates on Facebook, some happy, some sad, about cats and dogs being returned, adopted, found, and happy endings. My husband and I adopted a dog from PRBJ just a little over 2 years ago, in March of 2011, and I just wanted to send a note of happiness to our friends. Her name is Marlee, when we met her we were told she was dropped off because she could not be potty trained. We quickly found out that this was NOT the case (she is just VERY subtle about how she tells you. It took a while for us to figure it out, all the while she NEVER peed in the house. She sits on your toes :) . She was, however, very skiddish, shy, and not well socialized. She would not sit on the couch, or sleep on our bed (which was encouraged!). It took her about 9 months to adjust to our affection, and about a full year to get used to the idea that this was HER house and she could go where she wanted!! Today, she is SO beautiful, SO loving, SO playful, SO sociable, SO snuggly...everything wonderful about a dog, she is, she is perfect. She fits so well into our family. She gets along with her 7 year old brother Jack, she has many family and neighborhood doggie friends, she loves rolling around on the carpet, burying herself in pillows, running around the back yard, chasing lizards, and snuggling snuggling snuggling. Her favorite spot in the house is the back of the love seat she can see out the window and watch people walk by. In a time when it seems there are so many animals struggling and suffering, so many animals that need help, we wanted to send just a small update about her, when we got her, how far she's come, and how she's doing today. I have attached just a couple pictures that may show a very small view of some of her favorite things :) and how she is doing today. We are getting ready to celebrate her 3rd birthday (and her brother's 7th birthday - which just happened to be on the SAME DAY!! it was meant to be!!) Thank you all so much for everything you do to help animals in need in our community and beyond. God Bless and much love, Jessica & Ryan
