Emmie the Wannabe Lap Dog

Here is Emmie taking a time out from all the excitement. She went and laid down in her crate with the door opened and just watched me work this afternoon. Her and Zulu are getting to know each other, though I am taking my time with allowing them both to run free with each other in the house. Outside they did explore the back yard together for quite a while this afternoon.

Emmie the Wannabe Lap Dog

Hey Barb,

I know it’s been a while but wanted you to have an update. Emmie and Zulu have really begun to be a family. Sometimes Zulu is cranky but she’s earned it at age 14. Other times when she’s feeling better she and Emmie chase each other around the yard or try to chase squirrels together.

Emmie is really relaxing to where she will play fetch with me some times and even play with a toy on the couch while I am working. She gets super excited for walks now, where as she used to not been overly keen on them.

Emmie the Wannabe Lap Dog

Hi Barb and Judy,

Just wanted to touch base as we come into the first holidays with Emmie .

Emmie has been doing very well, she loves walk times and has become besties with my friend’s beagle/jack Russell mix named Snow. They can spend hours playing and wrestling. Emmie loves for snow to chase her around the yard.

She and Zulu get a long, though Zulu mostly sleeps during the day so they don’t play much. Zulu is starting to slow down in her advanced age and Emmie has been watching out for her. If Zulu needs to go out and I didn’t hear her, Emmie and come and get me for Zulu.

We are still working on Emmie ’s anxiety, both in general and during rain. On the whole it’s decreased as she’s gained confidence through play dates with snow. Now she’s usually fine during regular storms. Heavy thunder and she’s still not comfortable but she will just stick close to me when that happens.

She’s been a great addition to the house.

Have a merry Christmas!

-Eric
