Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Evelyn the Puppy

As for Khloe, she is doing just incredible. She is somewhere around 55 lbs and is happy all the time. The picture below is of something that she taught herself to do. She will carry one tennis ball and kick around the other for 15+ minutes, until it lays in just the right spot for her to pick it up. And as full of energy as she is, she sure loves to sleep. Eddie the Hound Puppy

Hi Lauren, Eddie is a very good boy. He gets along real well with our Tramper. They are inseparable. Turns out they are both the same age give a day or too. Sunday through Friday 1. We do long walks in the morning. Does real good with easy collar. 2. An hour of supervised running, chasing and ball catching in main yard. (about 1 acre) 3. Long walk at 6pm 4. Another hour of play afterward Saturdays we go to the Fleet Peeples Park in Winter Park where they run, swim & play with other dogs for about 3 hours. They usually sleep the rest of the afternoon. Eddie is an extremely smart boy. He can open the front door and run outside. (we have to keep deadbolt on now) Can open the refrigerator. ( we had to put a child lock on it) Can jump the fence in the main yard and Tramper climbs up and over after him. (that's why the supervision) They stay in the house while we are gone but can access the pool/patio and courtyard. Courtyard is about a 2,500 sq foot area they can run around and do their "business". We had to modify the courtyard to a 6 foot fence with coyote rollers at the top to foil their plans of roaming the neighborhood. We are very happy to have adopted Eddie. He is a great, sweet and charming boy. He enjoys his homemade roasted chicken, carrots, cauliflower and brocolli. Sincerely, Joel

Esme the Puppy

Hi Melanie, I hope that you are doing well! Below is a picture of Khloe (Evelyn) and Remi (Esme) at their first reunion. At first they were a little nervous around each other but ran around and buddied up in no time. We plan to get them together at least once a month. I thought that this could me a great photo for the website? Khloe is doing great. She weighs about 35 now and we expect her to get to 40 lbs or so. Her sister Remi is about 3 lbs heavier. Anyway, I just wanted to send you an update and thank you again. Russ

Essie the Trained Baby Jack

It has truly been a memorable experience for me. Everyone has been great. I will forward pictures but I am one of those who are extremely "technically challenged" Thanks again Renee

Ernie the Puggle

Hey Keri. We absolutely LOVE Ernie! I honestly believe that fate brought us together and he was meant to be a part of our family. He is the perfect dog! My daughter has had a great time playing tug of war with the dog toys with him, and my son loves running around the yard with him. He is always so happy, and if you even look at him, his tail starts wagging. He's not food or toy aggressive, and he's always happy to share. Seriously, this dog is perfect and we all love him so much! Lucy has started to calm down since he's been here, which is absolutely wonderful. She hasn't peed in the house since Ernie came home, and she isn't under my feet all the time acting like she's afraid I'm going to leave her. The two of them run around in the yard together, but not as much as she would like. She tries to play with him inside the house (like jumps around in front of him wanting to wrestle), but he doesn't usually pay attention to her. Even so, they get along great, and I hope that with some time, she will follow his lead and become a perfect dog too. :-) I haven't had a chance to take any good pictures of the kids with Ernie, but I attached the one of Rylie and him at the shelter, and another one I just took tonight of Rylie and the two dogs sleeping in Bryce's bed. (He's at my mom's house.) I also wrote about Ernie on my blog if you care to read it... http://www.thelifeofrylie.com/2013/06/our-newest-addition-meet-ernie.html. Thank you so much for facilitating our chance meeting with Ernie! I'm so glad that he happened to be at the shelter on Sunday! LeeAnn
