Description:
Ebony is one of a precious litter of eight puppies we rescued from Seminole County Animal Control. You will never believe how they ended up there. Ready for this? A family intentionally bred their momma but when the large designer-breed litter proved too much trouble for them to care for, they got rid of them!!! We think they are Chihuahua/Toy Fox Terriers, called Taco Terriers by designer breeders, but it is hard to tell. They are a cute as can be though! Sweet as you could ask for too. They'll be ready for their forever home in early October. So cute!!!

A Taco Terrier is a mixed that is a cross-breed of a Chihuahua and a Toy Fox Terrier and may demonstrate any combination of traits from those two breeds. Hybrids have become very popular in the past few years. They play a big role in the current designer dog trend. The experimentation of these hybrid or designer dogs has not been recognized by the American Kennel Club or Canadian Kennel Club. The key to cross breeding to purebred dogs is what is called hybrid vigor, the breeding resulting in a healthier dog with superior genetic constitution can come from dogs purebred for so long that they have common genetic disorders.

The Chihuahua mixed breeds are generally an ideal combination of purebreds. The American Canine Hybrid Club has made fifteen suggestions of cross breeding for Chihuahuas. The crossbreeding is the job of the dog breeder and the results of the club are a study of several dog breeders who have a great deal of experience. When customers buy the designer puppies, they should be healthy and well socialized.

There are about fifteen breeds of dogs that can be crossed with the Chihuahua. For example the cross between a Dachshund and a Chihuahua is called a Chiweenie. The Japanese Chin and the Chihuahua can be crossed to give the Chin-wa and the cross with the Maltese is a Malchi. The Terriers can also be crossed with the Chihuahua. With the Jack Russell Terrier the puppy is called Jach Chi, with the Rat Terrier the Rat-Cha and with the Toy Fox Terrier the Taco Terrier. The cross of the Yorkshire Terrier and the Chihuahua is the Chorkie.
