Description:
Hi, I’m Dawn.  I am an 8 week old lab mix puppy.  I love to play and explore.   I am a climber and learned to climb my foster mom’s couch from the moment I got home. Although I like to explore new things I can be kind of tentative about new situations.  I love people and to snuggle.  I enjoy playing and wrestling with my brother Ace.

Now our foster family will provide you some additional information about us.  We really keep them busy.

The puppies are incredibly sweet and active.  They eat about 1.5 cups of dry food twice a day.  The puppies are brindle and look pretty similar but Ace has a little bit lighter head and a white spot on his chest.

They are high energy but sleep well at night and are not averse to the occasional nap during the few quiet moments during the day.

Ace is very adaptable and willing to try anything.  Dawn is a little more cautious and wants to check out a situation first.  Once she understands though she shifts into full gear.

Dawn is a climber and likes to climb absolutely everything.  They both like to chew but are easily distracted from that.  They love to play in my long skirts and they love to play with the towels.  They are very smart.  They figured out how to get the towel off the handle of my stove while admiring their reflection in the glass.  They enjoy their baths and will usually drink while they are bathing.

They are still working on manners and training.  Although they will go into the crate and stay, they are not always excited to do it right away.  They have walked on a leash but are still adjusting to it and may take some persuasion.  They are still working on potty training.

The ideal home for these little ones would be with a family that has a lot of time to spend with them and is active.  Also a home with a big yard would be great because they enjoy being outside running around in the grass.

Meet Dawn! Her and her siblings were born to a wonderful mama named Xena. They came from a kill shelter, who begged us to find homes for the family. "Of course!" we said.

Dawn stands out from her brothers and sisters because she is all brindle.

The lab is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
