Description:

Hi, my name is Dash 'cause I'm Fast! I somehow lost my family and was found wondering the streets in Orlando. I ended up in a shelter and they gave me 2 weeks to find a new home, but no one adopted me. They put me on death row and I had 1 hour to live. Someone had been enquiring about me, emails to the facility, and phone calls also. I was then pulled out, and had a visitor come visit me. My new Foster Mom saved me!

Foster update 12/1: Well, Dash has been doing lots of visiting attending Pet Rescue By Judy's Oviedo Store location looking for his forever home. Meeting lots of people & famlies & animals. Dash is a very nice & polite dog and listens very well to commands, and with the right training which he loves, will find the right family. Dash loves to run, and run and run, doing figure 8's around our landscaped tropical beds! His name is appropriate. He's doing great with playing with our dog and is learning alot from her, as well as starting to watch the house when our dog is sleeping. Dash sits for his dinner, and then will come and thank you for it afterwards with a hug or nudge of the head. Dash has been doing great going into the crate at night, since he gets so much play & exercise that he wants to go to bed! Dash is still a puppy at heart, being around a year old.

11/14 Foster update: NO signs of aggression with other dogs or people. Treats, toys and bones can be taken away easily with no problems.  DASH continues to be curious abiut cats.  This week, he saw cat in neighbor's yard and got under the fence to go investigate. Owners with cats, will need supervise their interaction to ensure all parties get along. DASH shows typical puppy-like behaviors: chewing on things.  He is an easy first time dog owner who will keep up on obedience classes and exercise. DASH loves his people and is a cuddle-bug!  He is much better getting into crate; no more fussing and never an accident in crate. DASH would make an excellent travling companion as he like to sit and look out the window in the car.

Foster Update:Dash has been with us 6 days now. He is such a great dog and listens very, very, well. He loves to run, and run, and run and play chase with our other dog. Dash loves to steal the other dogs toys and then run outside with them and collect them in a pile in the middle of the back yard. Dash has a lot of young play in him being about a year old. He gets along great with other dogs and went to Pet Rescue by Judy's Dog Wash this Saturday at Pookie's Pet Nutrition, and met so many other dogs and was great with them all! Dash wants to chase the house cat where he lives, so the cat is not happy with that and we keep them seperated, or the cat would probably kick his butt. Dash is being crate trained and has a bit of a hard time wanting to go into it, I've tried treats to get him in and it worked 1 night and he clued into what the treats meant....going in the crate. Usually I have to pick him up and stuff him in, and he's great once in the crate, not a peep out of him and no accidents in the crate either. I have started leash training and he does great on leash. Dash also loves to jump up on all people he meets to greet them, so we are working on that also in training. Dash also met one child at the dog wash, and was shy and layed down to the ground for her. Dash is just an overall pleasure to have rescued and be able to foster him till he finds his forever home.

*** Are you not familiar with Rottweilers? According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Rottie is calm, trainable, courageous, and devoted to their owner and family. The Rottweiler is probably descended from the Italian Mastiff. During the Middle Ages, it was used as a herd dog. It was bred in the German town of Rottweil in Wurttemberg. Practically extinct in the 1800's, the breed population began a comeback in the early twentieth century due to the efforts of enthusiastic breeders centered in Stuttgart. Some of the Rottweilers talents include: tracking, herding, watchdogging, guarding, police work, carting, competitive obedience, and schutzhund. They have a reliable temperament. Protective, he will defend his family fiercely. They require owners who can handle their massive size. The Rottie is a natural guard dog with a mellow temperament. They are highly intelligent and have proven their worth beyond question in police, military, and customs work over many centuries. This breed needs a lot of companionship and socialization to be truly happy. They can be aggressive with other dogs and should be kept on leashes in public places. Friends and relatives of the family are normally enthusiastically welcomed. Strangers can get no further than the sidewalk. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
