OK, admit it - when you saw Emme's picture, you just HAD to check her out! Too sweet! This darling girl was picked up by animal control along with her mom and littermates because, sadly, they were wandering the roads. Emme was adopted at 8 weeks old by an elderly woman who started Bark Busters training but did not follow through. Is anyone suprised that she decided that Emme was just too much to handle and turned her back over to Animal Control. Well, Mike at Bark Busters couldn't bare to see this puppy tossed aside, not after he had worked with her and come to know her potential, so he went down and bailed our girl out. Although her owner had complained about Emme's biting and nipping, labeling them vicious, Mike recognized her behavior as what one might expect in an untrained puppy of this age and breed (I had a Lab/Rottie mix puppy and can testify that he is right!) Having worked with Emme he has found her to be very responsive, intelligent and attentive. (hmmm, can't say that about my lab/rottie...). Mike says that she is very energetic and loves to play. She has a Life Of The Dog Training Guarantee through Bark Busters Home Dog Training. The guarantee is transferable and Emme's new family will have the free training support for her entire life. She is housetrained, sits, stays and walks well on a leash. Emme has had
all her shots and a recent vet visit and all of her paperwork. What more could you want!?!

***According to dogbreedinfo.com, in April 1899, Capt. Max von Stephanitz registered a dog named Horan as the first Deutsche Schà¤ferhunde, which means German Shepherd Dog in English. Known for their tremendous loyalty and courage, they are calmly confident, but not hostile. This breed needs his people and should not be left isolated for long periods of time. They only bark when it is necessary.

Serious and almost human in his intelligence, they have a high learning ability. The breed is so intelligent and learns so readily that it has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, in police work, as a guide for the blind, in search and rescue service, and in the military. The German Shepherd also excels in many other dog activities including schutzhund, tracking, obedience, agility, flyball, and ring sport. His fine nose can sniff out drugs and intruders, and can alert handlers to the presence of underground mines in time to avoid detonation, or gas leaks in a pipes buried 15 feet underground.

A quick daily brushing is best unless hair in the house is not a problem. They should be bathed rarely, only once or twice a year to avoid skin oil depletion. Shepherds have a life expectancy around 13 years.
