Description:

Suki was surrendered to PRBJ when her family realized that with their busy schedules and apartment living, they could not dedicate time for training or exercise.
A fenced backyard is needed for her to run around in. Suki, unfortunately, was never potty trained and uses potty pads. New owners will need be diligent in housebreaking.  Suki likes dogs and would pair best with another canine her size and energy level. She is a little nervous with new people or situations, but once she has time to evaluate, she warms up. Suki will need to learn leash manners because she was not given much training.
Suki would be best in a home with an active person or family who is home much of the day to work on training and take her on adventures.  We are recommending a home with another dog especially around her size.  She loves dogs and they bring her out of her shell so quickly.  Another dog would help give her the confidence she needs and also a companion for play.

About Border Collies:

  Intelligence

Border Collies are often considered the smartest breed. They are highly trainable and excel at herding, agility, and obedience.

  Loyal

Border Collies are loyal and bond closely with humans. They love to cuddle and can be great couch companions.

  Family-friendly for ACTIVE households

Border Collies are good with children and other pets. They love, and need, to be active and are spunky and playful.  They can be great teammates for games of Frisbee, hiking, and agility competitions.

  High Energy Level

They are athletic dogs with TONS of energy. Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation is needed.  They can become mischievous (herding children, chewing or digging) or develop separation anxiety if they don't receive proper training or consistent mental stimulation.

  Barking

They will often bark out of excitement, stress, anxiety, playfulness, or loneliness.  They would not be a good match for a home with shared walls, i.e., apartments or townhomes.
