Description:

Heath and his siblings arrived at PRBJ from a high kill shelter.  These sweet little hound mix pups are lively and playful. Heath has been with a foster family that says he is playful and very sweet.  He loves to be close to his humans and thinks he is a small lap dog. He has been around dogs of various ages and sizes and has done great with all of them.  He has even been around cats and enjoys licking them and trying to play with them.  The cats don't enjoy him sitting or laying on them because he is so big so he has been trying to learn the difference in how to play with a dog vs how to play with a cat.  The cats in the foster home are used to dogs so Heath is just another member of the family to them.

Hounds are known for following their noses so a fenced yard will be required to help keep these pups safe. He will case the ball but has not figured out the bringing it back.  Heath has been working on walking on a leash.  He is still young but he is going to be a big dog so he needs to learn these skills now.  He's working on potty training and really does not have many accidents in the house mainly overnight.

New puppy parents will need to be dedicated to obedience, and socialization, and continue with potty training to ensure he grows up to be a happy and well-adjusted dog.  We highly recommend his new family attend puppy training classes. Training classes are the most successful when everyone in the family attends so you all learn about your new puppy.
