Description:

We rescued Jabba from a high kill shelter. His owner brought him and his companion there because he could no longer care for them. The other dog was sent to another rescue.

Because of his breed, the shelter did not put Jabba in the public adoption area because they did not want him to get into the wrong hands. They asked us to take him so that he could get more individialized attention and we could make sure he get adopted to the proper family. He needs an experienced owner, preferrably experienced with his breed or other mastiff breeds. It takes him time to warm up to people and he is very cautious, which is typical of his breed.

He has shown no aggression to people or other dogs. Once he gets to know you, his true personality can show. He is very goofy, playful, and affectionate.

We are working on his leash manners. When he goes out for walks, he is startled by loud noises. cars, etc. He is cautious of his surroundings.

He is not the type of dog that can be taken to to social events or a dog park. He may not be suitable for a large family or someone who has frequent visitors. He takes time to warm up and adjust to people.

He is a staff favorite and is hoping to find the proper home to suit his needs.
