We feel that Dash may do best with another large, active breed that can help him get all of the exercise he needs. He needs an active family and a fenced-in backyard to ensure he can get enough exercise. He is an active, large breed and is still a puppy. He is such a sweet boy. He loves to go our for a dog for a day program. Please look at his new photos and videos!!

AUGUST DOG 4 A DAY UPDATE:  We had a great day with Dash today for the Dog 4 a Day program.  We have 3 kids age 8, 7, and 3… and two jobs with long commutes that prevent us from having a dog full time – so this program is ideal for us.

Dash was such a great dog with all of our kids.  My 8 year old daughter and 7 year old son were both able to walk him on the leash without issue.  He listens well to basic commands (we didn’t try anything fancy)… he could sit and walk along side of us nicely.  We started at home… walking him around our 5 acres.  We have 13 chickens… initially we had them out of their coop – Dash pulled to get closer to them, but my 8 year old was able to manage him (I was on the leash just in case), but we didn’t think it was worth the risk so we put them back in the pen as a precaution.

We took Dash to a nature trail where we saw several families/couples and one dog, he wanted to go see the people and smell them, but in a friendly, non-aggressive manner.  We walked for ~1.5 miles in hot weather.  He was exhausted before reaching the car and ready to get back to air conditioning!   While driving, he was awesome – he just laid on the floor in the back seat.  He enjoyed when we would pet him.

At the end of the day, we gave him a bath in the bathtub.  He wasn’t excited to go in, but didn’t resist – I picked him up and placed him in a few inches of water.  My daughter and I used rags to rinse him off (including his face & inside his ears with water only), then shampooed him from the neck down… he leaned into me while we washed, but otherwise didn’t resist – he was easy to bathe.  Once clean, he just laid in our living room and rested.

Before returning Dash, we stopped by my dad & his wife’s home – they have two large dogs.  Dash did great with both of them, despite the older dog being a little jealous… Dash was patient while the dog smelled him.  We hung around about 20 minutes and had no issues.  We did have Dash on a leash the entire time, while the other two dogs were not on leashes.

July 2018 Update:
Dash (aka Franco) was brought to animal control in NC after being adopted, and PRBJ Volunteer, Shannan and her daughter, took the trip to save him, as we stand by all of our beloved animals.

He is a fantastic pup!! Dash is amazing with all people, kids, and other dogs and cats. Although he is an active puppy that loves to play, he still loves to curl up and snuggle. He is a great car passenger, and can get in all on his own--he loves to go on car rides. He would be a perfect addition to any active household! He would thrive with another younger, active dog in the home to romp and play with:)

**Due to recent transitions in his life, Dash needs a little training on going outside to potty, but is almost there!

-----------
Original Story: previously Franco, his siblings and their mom, sadly found themselves in a high-kill shelter.  Pet Rescue by Judy stepped in and brought the little family to safety.
These sweet puppies are are happy, playful and full of fun! They can't wait to join their new families for Christmas!
