Description:

Beautiful Valencia was found as a stray infested with fleas, a skin infection, ear infection and a urinary tract infection.   Thanks to the two young ladies who found her they surrendered her right to us.   Valencia is so sweet and would make a great companion to a very lucky family.

Colette fostered Valencia and wanted to give an update!

GOOD NEWS: I’ve taken Valencia to the dog park for her walks and she was great with ALL the dogs in the park. She’s very social and will go to nearly anyone without hesitation.

After picking up Valencia to foster, I made a stop at my son’s house where they have a 4 month old Shitzhu puppy named Zeus. She and Zeus were VERY happy together. They played and ran up and down the house and were having a grand time! My granddaughter is 10 months old and just starting to walk. Penelope patted Valencia and got in her face, but Valencia barely reacted. She didn’t nip…she made a very low sound and backed up but that was it.ow, when I got her home, she and my older Chihuahua didn’t hit it off right away. There was quite a bit of growling and snapping, so there's no love match there. From my conversation with Judy, she had the same reaction to another Chihuahua that was a bit older as well.

Once inside, Valencia ate her evening supper with gusto! I gave her the medicine she needs for her UTI, eye and ear infections.  Poor little baby. I gave her a bath to try and get rid of her “wet doggy” smell. Even spritzed a little perfume to give her some girly pampering. Her hair is gorgeous and shiny! She behaved very well in the bath (except for an escape attempt) and allowed me to dry her off. I was able to even give her hair a little trim as well! Not one complaint or fuss!

And now for the "MEH"NEWS….she HATES cats! I have four full-grown cats that I’ve had since kittens. She spent a good amount of time chasing and cornering a couple of them and just growling, snapping and being a general nuisance to them. I had to crate Valencia so she understood that was NOT how to behave. She definitely understands "NO" when trying to correct behavior. She will lie flat and become a bit submissive when correcting her.  She eventually did calm down – but my cats all steered clear of my bedroom.

My Chihuahua always sleeps under the blankets, so of course, Valencia had to find her own spot on the bed. My cat was NOT happy about being displaced!

I'd give a FOUR PAW Review for VALENCIA!!!

She’s a beautiful little girl with lots of energy and has a very sweet disposition. She is happy to be by your side and will follow you just about everywhere. Ultimately, Valencia should be either, the only pet in the home as long as someone is there with her throughout the day or with a younger dog with similar energy to keep her company when her fur-parents aren't there.
