Staff Update on Manya...who staff calls a “Doll”:

• Walking – Walks & listens well; never difficult after she gets to know you a bit; very easy going.
• Behavior – Doesn’t seem to exhibit the more anxious behavior typical of most Shepherds or Shepherd mixes.  She has a habit of doing cute little spin dances when excited, like a ballerina.   For a large dog, she is quite graceful.   
• Personality – In new situations she takes a bit to warm up, but when she does her true, sweet, silly, and giddy personality comes through. 
• Adaptability – Upon her return to us, she was protective of anything or anyone touching her face or neck.  In just a few days, she had adapted and now allows the staff to touch her anywhere.  Patience is key with Manya.   
• Cautions – Manya does not like her sleep disturbed or quick movements by her face or neck. This frightens her and she may react out of fear.  As she warms to you, touching her face and other areas of her body are fine.  She needs several days to learn she can trust.  A quiet adult-only environment would be ideal with no visiting children.
• Meeting Maya – If interested in Manya, we suggest you submit an application and then visit with her two or three times to just hang out, going on some walks so she can become comfortable with you

Hello, my name is Manya.  I'm 6 years old and sadly I am back at the rescue after being adopted as a puppy.

I am a strong lady and pull on the leash, so I need some basic leash training. I know basic commands, and if you work more with me, I bet I could learn more because I am super-smart.

I need to be your only pet as I am selective with other dogs...and I am not a fan of cats...so a home where I am the only pet to soak in your attention and give you lots of love is my dream! 

I don't like to be grabbed by the collar... and like many senior dogs, I'm not a big fan of fast movements by my face. 
I am looking for an adult only home as a 5 yr old child startled me while I was sleeping and I nipped her...I am not a bad girl, I just got spooked:(
