Foster Update 2/19/14:
Apperance- Yaz is all black with a white star on her chest and white tips on her back feet. Her tail is thin and stands up in a curl when she walks. She has very long legs.
Energy Level - Yaz has a normal energy level. She is normally active, playful at times and then napping at others.
Food - Yaz will come into the kitchen and sit while I prepare her food. She does not beg and is not underfoot while I am preparing her food. She knows where her bowl goes and goes there when I pick up her bowl. She is a fast eater and if she finishes before the other puppy she will attempt to eat that food also. I am working with her to understand that when her food is gone, eating is over. She is making progress. She does not beg for human food. She was very thin when we brought her home and she has gained 2 pounds in a week.
Adaptability - She is not shy and will approach with curiosity. She adjusted to the structured routine within 4-5 days. She learned very quickly to avoid being underfoot and being stepped on by humans or other dogs.
Behaviors - Yaz is very affection and loves attention. She will folllow you around as you go from room to room. When someone comes in the door, she is the first one to greet you. She is always eager to greet you and comes when you call her. She is like other normal puppies of this age, she likes to chew on things, sometimes your fingers. We have Puppy-proofed the house however, if she does get an item she should not be chewing on, she is easiely distracted with an appropriate dog chew toy. She eager to be held, petted, and snuggled.
Human Social Skills - Yaz has been socialized with adults, children, senior citizens, both men and women. Yaz will approach with curiosity and greet everyone.
Animal Social Skills - Yaz has been socialized with 3 large dogs and 1 small dog and 1 cat. She will play with them all and seems to enjoy them. She will join the other dogs if they bark, otherwise she does not bark alot. While she likes the dogs, she is human focused.
Obedience - Yaz is learning obedience. She will come when you call her name. She has had success with potty training but it is not complete as she is still very young.
Training - Yaz has learned "ouside" and "Let's go inside" while clapping, quickly mastered the house schedule, including the time to get up, time to go to bed, meal time and trips outside. Yaz sleeps in her crate at night and sleeps through the night.
Personality Quirks - She is a very sweet dog and I believe that she will be easy to train further and will completely master potty training with some physical and emotionally growth. She is human focused.
