About Gwenivere the Pretty Lab Puppy

  • Microchipped: Yes
  • Housetrained: Yes
Our little Lady Gwenivere came in from a high-kill shelter with her brother Lancelot. These puppies are irresistable beautiful labs who look to be mixed with Great Dane based off their size as puppies. They are so cute and wiggly--who wouldn't love these amazing puppies?

Here is what Gwenivere's foster dad has to say about her:

Leash Manners - Walks well on leash, Does better when walking with her brother.

Crate/House Training - House trained - no accidents at house. She has had a few accidents at work.  Gwenivere does well in her crate,And will go in by her self. I put her in the crate to feed her, treat her, for a nap and at night.

Socialization – She enjoys running in the yard with my dog and enjoys playing with her brother Lancelot, I am fostering. She enjoys tossing toy and is trying his best to make friends with my 2 year old lab. She is a high energy puppy and is almost always on the move.

Energy Level and Exercise – High energy – enjoys the freedom of the yard and motivates my dogs to chase and play with her. She plays outside several times throughout the day.  She enjoys playing fetch and brings it back most of the time. She and her brother can get wound up in the house so, I just let them back out in back yard to run it off.

Daily Structure and Schedule –  Plays a little outside and does her business. and then has 1 cup of food. 30 minutes of quiet time. Then  plays in yard until it is time to get ready for work. At work they get to meet new dogs and people. Gwenivere is a little shy first meeting new people and dogs, but with some encouragement and praise will warm up very quickly. When we get home form work they go out to the backyard and play for a while. Have dinner 1 cup of dry and take a nap. Gwenivere loves to cuddle up and watch TV when she is worn out. If she is still full of energy she will need more playing time or be crated. We go out one more time before bed and she sleeps in his kennel over night.

Confidence Level – Friendly and Shy with people and other dogs will bark at other dogs until they meet.  Does well in car and can even get in by her self now.

Obedience Training – She has learned "sit" and we're working on "come" and “wait” at the door. Does better with commands when her brother is not around to distract her.

Behaviors –  Is a pretty rambunctious and needs lots of play time. She is a puppy and will put her mouth on anything he can get to. (keep those shoes picked up). Sometimes needs extra commands with no, to stop unwanted behavior and will go back to it if not taken away or put up. She enjoys being around the dogs in the yard and chases, plays fetch and wrestles with the puppy until she is exhausted. likes to be around when me when in the house and sometimes can be under foot. Some times I have to put them away when trying to get something done.

Personality Quirks –  is a afraid of loud noise, and likes to dig.

Ideal Home -  Would love an active home with a single person, a couple or a family (still teething but plays calmly inside) . I really hope she gets adopted with her brother Lancelot.  She would enjoy a fenced yard and someone who would enjoy walking and playing with her and if her owner enjoys spending time with her. She is playful and gentle and will bond quickly to a caring person who has time for him.  He will make a loyal companion or a great family pet.

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
