Bogie is looking for a home because his owner was moving and could not keep him. He is so sweet! He likes other dogs, cats and kids. He loves dogs his own size and smaller, but gets intimadated by larger dogs.

Foster Update:  I believe that Bogie is housetrained...meaning that he has never gone in the house....(we've had him for over two weeks) but at the same time, he does not do anything to let us know he needs to go.  We have just been taking him out a few times a day...once in the morning, once at night, a at least a couple of times in the day.  I have three kids so they are always willing to take him out.  He is such a great dog.  He only barks when we are playing with him and he is happy, or when the doorbell rings.  He does not lick our faces either, which I like. He is great on a leash, he gets along well with cats, dogs and kids.  We took him to the dog park and there was another dog, medium sized, part dalmation, who was friendly and they got along well and ran around together.

It is undeniably suspicious of people except for its owner. When strangers are present, it follows its owner's every move, keeping as close as possible. The Chihuahua must resort to his sharp teeth in self defense, so it may snap at someone who is teasing it. Therefore, it is not recommended for a home with young children. He can be noisy and may require patience to housebreak. Many owners simply paper train this breed. The Chihuahua hates the cold and may shiver, although this may be due to high metabolism as much as temperature or anxiety. It will tolerate and even appreciate a warm sweater on cooler days. They are good little dogs for apartment life. Although it is tempting to carry these dainty creatures about, they will keep fitter if taken for walks. A body harness is safer for the dog's small size than a collar. Don't think that just because he is small he should be confined to a small space. It still needs daily exercise. Chihuahuas have a life expectancy of 15 or more years.
