Stitch was given to us by his owner when they lost their home.  His owner passed away and the family didn't realize that the mortgage was outstanding.  He was surrendered with his buddy Axel.  Stitch is good with dogs and cats.  He is small and his skin is in horrible condition due to fleas.  We are treating him and he will be good as new soon.

Foster update 3/27: I have been fostering stitch for over 2 weeks now. I orginally took him because im a vet tech and he needed some TLC with his skin. He has turned in to the love bug of a dog! He loves to be cuddled and held. He is pretty tiny and warms up slowly to people. He was clearly sheltered in a home with an elderly couple whom didn't get out much nor have alot of company. This being said he loves to be in his comfort zone (the house or the car) and warms up to new situations slowly. It took him about 2 days to calm down and come up to me without fear. Now he runs from room to room barking and trying to play with the other little dogs. He is good with all size dogs and cats. He currently lives with a great dane, german shepar, beagle and 2 other chihuahua. I have 2 adults cats whom he doesn't even care about. He is housebroken and does well when taken out 4-6 times daily. He loves to sleep next to my head in the bed at night and enjoys being snuggled on the sofa. He eats mostly wet food (his teeth are in great shape) but when he eats dry food (either too much or too quickly) will throw it up.

Medical update: After treating Stitch with an allergy shot, an oral antibiotic, an oral anti-yeast and a lime dip his skin has started to heal. He barely itches and his hair is growing back. I have Stitch on tight flea control (comfortis 5-10lbs every 30 days) because he seems to be allergic to flea bites. Once stitch's skin heals i assume any adopter should not have further major medical problems with his skin. He only got this way through lack of medical attention and neglect.

Stitch qualifies for a senior for senior program. If adopted by a senior person (55+) his adoption fee is only $50.

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Chihuahua is the oldest breed on the American continent and the smallest breed in the world. Native to Mexico, nonetheless it seems to have been introduced by the Chinese. It was only brought to Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. The Chihuahua is named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua where he was brought to the rest of the world by travelers. This breed is believed to have been sacred to the Pre-Columbian Indian nations. The Chihuahua is a popular, economical companion dog. Courageous, extremely lively, proud and enterprising, it gives and demands affection. Bold and saucy, it moves swiftly to avoid being stepped on. Chihuahua's are strong-willed, intensely loyal and become very attached to their owners, even to the point of jealousy. They like to lick their owner's faces. It is undeniably suspicious of people except for its owner. When strangers are present, it follows its owner's every move, keeping as close as possible. This breed may snap at teasing children, after all it is too tiny to get away. The Chihuahua must resort to his sharp teeth in self defense. It is not recommended for children. He can be noisy and may require patience to housebreak. Many owners simply paper train this breed. The Chihuahua hates the cold and may shiver, although this may be due to high metabolism as much as temperature or anxiety. It will tolerate and even appreciate a warm sweater on cooler days. They are good little dogs for apartment life. Although it is tempting to carry these dainty creatures about, they will keep fitter if taken for walks. A body harness is safer than a collar. Don't think that just because he is small he should be confined to a small space. Chihuahuas have a life expectancy of 15 or more years.
